You may be as surprised as we were that 39% of surveyed 18-24 year olds in the US now identify as LGBTQ+, according to the October 2021 research published by George Barna with the Cultural Research Center at Arizona Christian University.
First of all, I realized that I made an error in our previous letter stating that six-hundred 18-24 year olds were surveyed, when in fact we later discovered it was actually six-hundred 18-37 year olds who participated, two-hundred and ten of which were 18-24 year olds. That said, the statistic is alarming nonetheless.
Should we be worried? Actually, no. Worry is never a right response; rather, let?s rest in Jesus? peace because He has already overcome the world (Matt 6:34, John 16:33, Hebrews 4:10). We simply need to keep praying, living in the victory Jesus has won for us, and lovingly sharing about Him with others so they can join us in His rest and victory as well.
As we mentioned in our letter last week, we are diligently working on many projects that we invited you to give towards. However, you may be wondering what else you can do. Afterall, the Kingdom isn?t a spectator sport. Jesus calls each one of us to participate in accomplishing His mission of loving our neighbors and sharing the gospel with them ? both with our actions and our words.
Do you ever feel like you?re not well-equipped to love your neighbors who identify as LGBTQ+? You?re not alone; none of us can do it well without the Holy Spirit?s help. Additionally, learning from the wisdom of people who?ve gone before us is wonderfully helpful too. For this reason, we?ve compiled a lot of resources on our website to help you become equipped in loving others well.
And of course, please always know that you can reach out to us for help. If you?d like to take a deep dive into your particular situation, you can schedule a free 1-hour coaching meeting via Zoom on our website as well.
We?re in this together as His Family. May the Father bless you as you love your family, co-workers, neighbors, and even strangers, in deed and in truth.
In Him,
Garry Ingraham
